Our NUDE 2016 jury is composed of international artists and professionals who have acquired a taste for creative images and photography. Their common vision will identify the best artistic photographs representing our criteria for this contest: emotion, beauty and freedom.

Pierre ChoinièrePhotographer, Quebec, Canada
World-renowned photographer Pierre Choinière has immortalised widely acclaimed advertising campaigns snapshots for fashion powerhouses Christian Dior, Charles Jourdan and Chevignon, to name only a select few. Following his apprenticeship at the School of Modern Photography in Manhattan, notably studying under Yousuf Karsh, he very rapidly established a foothold as a photographer in Montreal. A pioneer in Quebec fashion photography, Choinière is among the first photographers to have worked for Clin d’œil and Elle Québec. After moving to Paris in 1988, he became a household name in fashion advertising photography, working with the likes of Issey Miyake, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Carole Bouquet. Pierre Choinière resides in Montreal, Quebec where he owns a gallery and pursues his ongoing personal photojournalistic projects via his travels in Marocco, Mongolia and throughout the world.
Julia Fullerton-Batten Photographer, United Kingdom
The British photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten (West Germany, 1970) grew up in Germany and the United States. She studied at the Berkshire College of Art and Design in Reading, England, and has been a freelance photographer since 2001. She won a John Kobal Award twice, and in 2005 and 2007 she was honoured by the Royal Photographic Society in England. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery and the Musée de l'Elysée in Lausanne. Julia Fullerton-Batten is now ubiquitous in contemporary photography. She won major international awards such as the Hasselblad Master Awards in Fine Arts and the World Photography Award, and presided over a number of contests, such as the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize. Most recently, she was a jury member of the Life Framer Photography Award. Although she still shoots a lot of commercial work, she treasures her fine art photography for the creative freedom it allows her. Julia has won the Third Prize and a Category Award (Urban Category) of PhotoShoot Awards, NUDE 2014.
Patrick Lesort President of Productions Hors cadre & Co-Founder of PhotoShoot Awards
Initiated at a very young age to the magic of images and the photo lab, Patrick attended photography school in Paris. From 1975, Patrick worked as a portrait and interior design photographer. He branched out later to graphic arts where he was Art Director for numerous design studios in Paris, Aix-en-Provence (France) and then in Montreal. Editor-in-Chief for a number of trade magazines, Patrick also became responsible for the contests Grafika (graphic design) and Lux (professional photography). At the same time, he founded his own company, les Productions Hors cadre, and became involved in the organization of cultural events. PhotoShoot Awards is a project that has come into fruition and emphasizes Patrick’s passion for artistic photography. For the past 15 years, under his artist name (Roland Cabon), Patrick has continued to create his images, namely artistic nudes, which have appeared in numerous print publications and exposed in exhibits in Montreal and in France, in particular at the Festival européen de photo de nu d’Arles, in 2006.
Lulu Lockhart Art model, United Kingdom
Lulu is based in Thame (Oxforshire, England). She was a life model for around 18 months and worked for fine artists and sculptors. She is now a professional artist model while pursuing her studies at university. Young, charming, she already has a stunning portfolio of work and has worked with some of the best photographers in United Kingdom, Ireland and Europe.
Marie-Reine Mattera Photographer, Canada
Marie-Reine Mattera opened her first studio at age 20 in Paris. There she contributed to such notable publications as Libération, L’Express and Première. In 1992, Marie-Reine immigrated to Montreal and has since developed a career in both commercial and art photography. In her studio, with her team, she shoots advertising, editorial, entertainment and women’s and men’s fashion campaigns, and has carved out an exceptional reputation in children’s fashion. Meanwhile, she has established herself as an artist as well through the projects she creates with Emmanuel Joly under the name of Mattera-Joly. With an approach that is at times different but always complementary, their artistic collaboration is fruitful and has given rise to numerous exhibitions. Together they have published 24h/24, la nuit se lève, a book exploring life at night time. In addition, Marie-Reine has won an award at Lux (contest honouring commercial and professional photography) every year for over 10 years.
Iouri Philippe-Paillé Music Video & Commercial Director, Quebec, Canada
Iouri Philippe Paillé is a music video and advertising director based in Montreal. Fascinated by the concept of "moments", Yuri tries to capture beauty and contrasts, through a contemplative aesthetic that constantly flirts between imagination and reality, to create visceral and sometimes surreal images. His work has been featured in “Vimeo Staff Picks” on Vimeo and has been published on Fubiz, The Inrock and SHOTS. He has worked with several well-known artists of the Quebec music scene such as Ariane Moffat, Misteur Valaire, and Coeur de Pirate Alfa Rococo, and also became famous internationally with his work with Mika and Christina Perri.
Phylactère Multidisciplinary artist, Quebec, Canada
Phylactère is a multi-disciplinary eclectic artist. An anthropologist, artistic model and a photographer, she travels the world to meet artists, work with photographers and teach body exploration. For many years, she has carefully collected in her field journals observations and questions from movement to expression, shared culture to personal identity entailed in the body. Guided by her intuition and experience, she runs workshops for photographers and anyone willing to explore the body. She is currently in India, exploring new areas through her length and body. She is preparing a book on artistic photography for 2016.
Jean-Daniel Rohrer Artist painter, Quebec, Canada
Born in 1960 in Switzerland, Jean-Daniel Rohrer is a Canadian painter.Working in the field of graphic arts before devoting himself entirely to painting, he graduated from SAWI (Swiss Centre for Communication Education) and holds a federal patent which he obtained in 1983.He immigrated to Canada in 1989. He lives and works in Montreal and is a member of the International Association of Plastic Arts. He created the painting Montreal, city of peace for the Montreal City Hall and the commemorative work for the 25th Formula 1 Grand Prix of Canada. Rohrer also created the sculpture Man of Peace, Hiroshima installed at the Convention Centre in Japan. In 2010, ParallaxeFilms produced a documentary on the work of Jean-Daniel Rohrer entitled, "The image storyteller." This film was directed by Julien Lombard and was presented in the Official Selection at the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA).
Cristina Țintă Editor in Chief, FOTO4all Magazine, Romania
Cristina Țintă is a Romanian photographer who first fell in love with the stars and astrophotography and then started to play with other types of photography as well. She won a few international awards for astrophotography and also two honorable mentions at the IPA Awards in 2012. She is also the co-founder and Editor in Chief of FOTO4all magazine, a PDF based photography magazine, established in August 2011 and published in English starting September 2012. The articles cover a wide range of topics. You will always find both well-known and emerging artists inside their pages. At FOTO4all they believe that a great way to learn photography is to study exceptional images and to listen to voices that successfully practice the art of photography. In January 2013 they also launched Best of FOTO4all – an interactive issue for iPad users, containing the most interesting interviews and portfolios from their first year of activity.
Rebecca Tun Art Model, Germany
Rebecca is a freelance art model from the UK. She is currently based in Berlin and spends her time there organizing tours of Europe: "I'm going from place to place modeling for different photographers on a wide range of art projects in a lot of exotic locations. I'm obsessed with making pictures and I'm addicted to looking at them. I'm deeply motivated by imagination and creativity, but also very technical in my approach. My days revolve around images. In my spare time I take photographs and I make collages". When she finishes modeling, Rebecca would like to stay in the world of images by becoming an editor or a curator.
Martin Villeneuve Writer-Director-Producer, Canada
After his studies in filmmaking and graphic design, Martin Villeneuve directed a number of videos and advertisements. As a graphic designer,
he created numerous posters for the film industry. In 2002, he won a bursary offered by Sid Lee where he later became Art Director and
collaborated in the conception of ad campaigns for the Cirque du Soleil’s shows Zumanity, KÀ and Corteo.
His graphic novels Mars et Avril, (volumes 1 and 2) and his comic book La voix du tonnerre were all released to critical acclaim.
In 2012, he completed his first feature film as writer-director-producer, Mars et Avril, based on his graphic novels. Martin is also
the first — and so far the only — speaker from Quebec to have given a TED Talk in Long Beach, California. In 2014, he won the Best Actor
award for his role in the short film Imelda. Martin is currently working on four feature films: Aquarica, Imelda, From Beyond
and The Other World, two of which to be produced in L.A.
Nicolas Wasmer President of Abekobe & Co-Founder of PhotoShoot Awards
Nicolas Wasmer is a talented web specialist in great demand whether in Quebec, France or Japan. While creating websites for Infopresse, the magazine publisher in Montreal, Nicolas discovered a new passion for photography. The websites for Grafika and Lux, the latter being a competition showcasing the works of professional photographers in Quebec, sparked Nicolas' imagination for a venue that would join both mediums, web and photography. His friendship with Patrick triggered the idea behind PhotoShoot Awards, a series of web-based photography competitions. From this point forward, it was conceivable that their idea would become reality. Nicolas is also President of Abekobe, a company specializing in the translation of Asian languages, where he works with his wife, Keiko, of Japanese origin. In addition, he has recently created the website of l'Institut de tourisme et d'hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ) in Montreal.
