Oceans 2013
For its second online photography competition, PhotoShoot Awards offers you the opportunity to submit photos which either portray the scandalous destruction of Earth's greatest untamed resource: our oceans, or which celebrate their inherent beauty and freedom. Contrasting images of desolation and beauty will convey powerful emotions.
Black tide
Save our oceans! The black tides of pollution, degradation, exploitation and industrialisation which threaten to engulf our seas are very real. Bottles which were once thrown into the sea bearing a message of hope now litter the shore and detritus lies waste to the ocean floor. The polar caps are melting, water levels rise and the world as we know it is in danger.
Deep blue
The deep blue sea, source of all life, still offers the infinite possibility of hope: the sight, smell and sound of it reassures and calms us, while providing many others with a livelihood. The departure and arrival of loved ones by boat remind us of other possibilities far away, both in time and place. Still, we dream of the beauty and unspoiled nature of coral reefs and deserted beaches.
The essential criteria of all PhotoShoot Awards competitions are emotion, beauty and freedom.
